The first few satellites of Galileo GPS system are expected to be launched by the end of 2005. The Galileo GPS is expected to be superior the the services offered by the current GPS system in many ways, including:
1. Electronics providing clear signals with accuracy,
2. Location based services: You can find the nearest restaurant or a parking lot.
3. "Safety of life" signals for airline pilots,
4. A "search and rescue" service.
The first satellite is supposed to be launched in October 2005. Others will follow in 2006, with the system up and running by 2008.
